BIO
Nicholas Galbraith was born in in Abilene, TX. His connection to the performing artist started early. His mother was a dancer and choreographer who worked locally with theaters and universities. This is where the backstage memories began. For his earliest years, Nicholas, was the toddler on the hip, wide-eyed with excitement for the theatre around him. But his childhood was by no means limited to a life in theatre. As a child he was exposed to everything from rodeos to ballets; however, like any Texan, spare time was split between basketball, soccer, and baseball practice, but he wasn’t alone in all that carpooling. With all of his siblings, life was filled with beach trips, lake weekends, card games, and of course endless bowling and miniature golf.
Nicholas’ high school career was just as busy. After his freshman year, Nicholas spent the summer studying at the Solexico Institute in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. He was deeply involved with theatre at Wylie High School. Nicholas took part in numerous productions at local universities and community theaters. He also gained experience directing, designing, and competing in University Interscholastic League one act play festivals. He also competed at the state level academically in multiple areas. For many years, he also competed at the state level in the creative problem solving/performance competitions Odyssey of the Mind and Destination Imagination. In what little spare time was left, Nick, found his way into the production aspect of broadcast news at the local CBS affiliate, K-TAB TV where he worked behind the camera. In the spring of 2003, he was accepted by the acting conservatory at The University of North Carolina School of the Arts. He studied under the direction of legendary director and Dean of Drama, Gerald Freedman, and also worked with internationally renowned conductor and Chancellor, John Mauceri. The classically based training program combined the best of all worlds. Training included the classics like Shakespeare, Moliere, and Wilde; contemporary and classic musical theatre; as well as training for TV and Film.
While on his summer breaks, Nicholas worked regionally in Texas and performed in multiple summer stock productions, but the summer before his senior year, he received a grant from the Semans Foundation to study abroad in Italy. The first half the summer, he resided as an intern in a 14th Century Castle known as Galeazza. He was also accepted into the multi-lingual XII Annual Training Session of Commeida dell’Arte under renowned mask teacher Antonio Fava in Reggio Emilia for the second half of the summer where he furthered his mask/movement training with students from dozens of countries. After receiving his B.F.A fin 2007, Nicholas moved to New York City where he continues pursuing his career in TV, Film, and and theatre.
